Pesaro – San Bartolo Park

The Regional Park of Monte San Bartolo is one of the 12 protected areas of the Marche Region. It covers about 1,600 hectares and its hilltops, that reach 200 m, offer breath-taking views, with cliffs overlooking the sea.

San Bartolo is one of the rare promontories of the Adriatic Sea, which is characterized, in summer and spring, by its yellow gorges and its green lawns.  San Bartolo can be visited, thanks to a well-maintained network of paths and it can be reached it by going along the Strada Panoramica that is full of breath-taking views and landscapes and which extends for about 20 km from Gabicce Mare to Pesaro.

The winding roads emerge here and there in towns and villages once inhabited by fishermen and which retain their original appearance. This happens for Fiorenzuola di Focara where you can see the museum of the sea, and Casteldimezzo, with its seafood cuisine and its artisan workshops. The Strada Panoramica goes through other pretty villages such as Santa Marina, Gabicce Monte and Colombarone, which is an important archaeological site.

The beauty of the landscape is also enhanced by the historical Renaissance and eighteenth century “gems”, projects of the noble families of that time, such as Villa Imperiale and Villa Caprile, whose famous Italian gardens host wonderful waterworks.
